CP Science: Semester Portfolio Requirements

  1. Weekly participation in online advisory hour: Fridays, 8-9am
  2. Weekly posts about labs-in-progress
  3. Weekly sample of 1-2 critical thinking questions and answers from text (assigned by IST and posted by student)
  4. 10 formal lab reports (with two lab reports posted each month, clearly labeled and numbered)
  5. Student-selected evidence of scientific research (not a lab, e.g., a short paper or poster about a topic, including three references, two of which must be from primary scientific literature)
  6. Student-designed experiment, formal write-up, and thorough analysis
  7. Sample of vocabulary, including etymologies of selected terms
  8. Science current event analysis that meets department guidelines
  9. Sample of unit or chapter review questions and answers
  10. Department final exam

1. Please visit this site: Phschool.com. Under content resources enter the Web code: cjk-9999 to get to your text's resources online for chapter one. Click on the links to explore.  Read the Study Guide Summary (PowerPoint presentation) -it is brief.

2. Then take one of the Online Field Trips or check out the Web Resources

3. then try to take the Chapter Quiz and print the quiz out if you do well

4. Choose a lab or an activity to complete, related to your chapter’s topics: www.howstuffworks.com
