2011 STAR Test Information for Families
The multiple choice portion of the STAR test is coming up soon.
Last year our school did not make our goal of having a 95% participation rate!
Let’s see if we can do this year- please participate in testing! Here are answers to some
frequently asked questions.
When is testing? STAR testing will be the week of April 25th-April 29th.
There will be limited make up testing the following week (see dates in chart below).

Who tests? Students in grades 2-11 take the STAR test

What should my child bring? A #2 pencil, a snack, and a book to read in case they finish
early
My child isn’t nervous, but I am! Many families who have had concerns over testing tend to
find that it ‘wasn’t that bad after all’. Some kids have surprised us and said they thought it was
fun. Others wish they could do STAR testing every day because they don’t have to do their
regular work! Most kids have fun seeing their friends and making new friends. Our priority is to
make testing a positive experience for our students and if absolutely necessary, we are able to
test students in a smaller group or alone.
When do parents receive results? Results will be mailed to parents July 5th - Sept 16th

and includes information on the content of the questions and how many questions are on the test
for a particular topic. Go to www.startest.org , click on CST from tabs on left, then click on
California Standards Test Blueprints at the top of the page.
