Math Diagnostic

The Mathematics Department Chair oversees the administration of the mathematics readiness/placement tests for students in Grades 7-12. These assessments were developed as part of the CSU/UC Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project. Based on student performance, the Math Chair and Department Members are able to provide teachers, students, and parents with guidance as to course placement and recommended curricula. Given the flexibility of the PCS program and the fact that students have some choice with respect to materials and pacing, this diagnostic information is invaluable, especially when combined with IST observation and other assessment results. In addition to the pre-course diagnostic, all high school level math courses have a required end-of-course exam.
