October Week 3:

Day 1: This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The feature composition is the Menuet and Trio movement from "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" (EYE-na KLY-na NOCKT-moo-zeek), or in English, "A Little Nightmusic." Mozart composed his "Nachtmusik" for a string orchestra-violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

Day 2: This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The feature composition is the Menuet and Trio from "Eine kleine Nachtmusik." Mozart composed his "Nachtmusik" for the entertainment of wealthy people and kings and queens. They wanted to hear music that followed a familiar pattern. Mozart decided to use a musical design with three major sections. He created a brisk, whimsical theme to begin. Mozart knew his second main idea should be a contrast. He wrote a gentle and smoothly flowing melody. To finish, Mozart combined a little of his first idea and little of the second.

Day 3: This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The feature composition is the Menuet and Trio from "Eine kleine Nachtmusik." ln his Menuet and Trio movement, Mozart decided to use a musical design that was familiar to his audience. Mozart composed a whimsical theme to begin in which all the stringed instruments play briskly. To contrast, he wrote a gentle melody for his second section. The violins· play this smoothly flowing tune while the other instruments just · provide a light accompaniment. To make the Menuet and Trio feel finished, Mozart used ideas from the first section and the second section at the end.

Day 4: This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The feature composition is Menuet and Trio from "Eine kleine Nachtmusik." Mozart showed off his gift for writing melodies in this Menuet and Trio. Each of the melodies is different-one is brisk, one cascades like a waterfall, another is like watching a graceful skater. Mozart also knew how to use his contrasting melodies in a musical design his audiences liked.

Day 5: This week's feature composition is Menuet and Trio from "Eine kleine Nachtmusik." Do you remember the name of the composer? (Short pause.) Good for you. It is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart composed his Menuet and Trio for the entertainment of his audience-wealthy people and royalty. He knew they liked the musical design in which the beginning and the middle were different and the ending had a little bit of both.
