Mozart composed his "Nachtmusik" for a string orchestra-violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

Mozart composed his "Nachtmusik" for the entertainment of wealthy people and kings and queens. They wanted to hear music that followed a familiar pattern. Mozart decided to use a musical design with three major sections. He created a brisk, whimsical theme to begin. Mozart knew his second main idea should be a contrast.
