Day 1: This week's feature composer is Sergey Prokofiev (SAIR-gay Pro-KOFF-ee-eff).

The feature composition is Troika from Lieutenant Kijé Suite (IGE-jay). Lieutenant Kijé was a soldier-hero character invented for a film. Prokofiev composed his music to be picturesque-to help us enjoy the story with our imaginations. To help us see the troika (a Russian sleigh pulled by three horses), Prokofiev composed a running, nonstop rhythm and a bumpy melody all accompanied by bells and triangles. What a noisy, happy ride it must have been!

Day 2: This week's feature composer is Sergey Prokofiev. The feature composition is Troika from Lieutenant Kijé Suite. In his music for Lieutenant Kijé, Prokofiev wanted us to hear and see the story through his music. He composed a running, non-stop rhythm and a bumpy melody to paint the picture of a ride in the troika, a Russian sleigh pulled by three horses. He knew that by featuring bells and triangles we would have the feeling of a fast and furious ride.

Day 3: This week's feature composer is Sergey Prokofiev. The feature composition is Troika from Lieutenant Kijé Suite. Prokofiev was an imaginative composer. He knew how to use rhythm, instruments, and melody to create a musical picture of a troika. The trotting of the horses and the jingling of the harnesses are expressed by the running rhythm and bells and triangles. I wonder where Lieutenant Kijé was going in his troika?

Day 4: This week's feature composer is Sergey Prokofiev. The feature composition is Troika from Lieutenant Kijé Suite. When Prokofiev composed Troika he wanted his music to be picturesque. He knew that using bells and triangles and a running, non-stop rhythm would help us imagine a fantastic sleigh pulled by three horses on a fast and furious ride.

Day 5: This week's feature composition is Troika from Lieutenant Kijé Suite. .Do you remember the name of the composer? (Short pause.) Are you thinking of Sergey Prokofiev? Good for you. Prokofiev was a clever composer. He composed a non-stop rhythm and a bumpy melody for Troika. Then he added jangling bells and triangles. We can almost feel ourselves bumping along behind the three trotting horses pulling the sleigh.
