MONDAY: This week's feature composer is Zoltán Kodály (ZOL-ton KOH-dye).The feature composition is the Viennese Musical Clock from Háry János.Háry János (HAH-ree YAH-nosh) is a character in Hungarian folklore. He is a boastfulsoldier and the stories about him sometimes sound like tall tales. When Kodály decidedto compose music to tell the Háry János story, he knew it would have to be colourful,inventive, and full of fantasy. 

TUESDAY: This week's feature composer is Zoltán Kodály. The feature composition is the Viennese Musical Clock from Háry János.This portion of Kodály's music tells the part of the Háry János legend when he istravelling through a town and comes upon an amazing musical clock. This clock has asmall army of toy soldiers attached to it that march vigorously around when the clockstrikes the hour. Kodály creates this image by using sounds we associate with a militaryband-the chimes, orchestral bells, triangle, trumpets, low brass, drums, and woodwinds. 

WEDNESDAY: This week's feature composer is Zoltán Kodály.The feature composition is the Viennese Musical Clock from Háry János.Kodály creates the image of the Viennese musical clock, with its army of marching toysoldiers, by using the instruments we associate with a military band-chimes, bells,triangle, drums, trumpets, low brass, and woodwinds. He knew that this combination ofinstruments would be so colourful that we would find it easy to imagine what thisfantastic clock looked like to Háry János, the boastful soldier hero of the legend. 

THURSDAY: This week's feature composer is Zoltán Kodály.The feature composition is the Viennese Musical Clock from Háry János.When Kodály decided to compose music to tell about Háry János' adventures, he knew itwould have to be colourful and full of fantasy. To match the part of the story when HáryJános comes upon an amazing musical clock, Kodály used chimes, bells, triangle,trumpets, woodwinds, low brass, and drums. He knew this combination would make theimage of the clock's marching toy soldiers very vivid.
