MONDAY: This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.The feature composition is the second movement of "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" (EYE-naKLY-na NOCKT-moo-zeek).The title of the composition is in German because that is the language Mozart spoke.Mozart decided to use only stringed instruments-violin, viola, cello, and double bassfor "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," or as it is said in English, "A Little Nightmusic." Mozartcomposed "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" for people to listen to after a fancy dinner. This ishow wealthy people and kings and queens entertained themselves about 200 years ago. 

TUESDAY: This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.The feature composition is the second movement of "Eine kleine Nachtmusik."Mozart composed "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" for string orchestra. He thought up a slow,smooth melody and repeated it several times at the beginning of this movement. Mozartwas smart. He wanted us to remember the beginning melody so he let us hear it morethan once.This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. 

WEDNESDAY: The feature composition is the second movement of "Eine kleine Nachtmusik."Mozart was a smart composer. He thought up a slow, smooth melody and repeated itseveral times at the beginning of this movement so we would always recognize it. Mozartwas also an imaginative composer. He thought up two faster, crisper melodies to contrastwith the slow, smooth melody. He knew this would make this movement of "Eine kleineNachtmusik" interesting to listen to. 

THURSDAY: This week's feature composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.The feature composition is the second movement of "Eine kleine Nachtmusik."Mozart used the slow, smooth melody that he knew we would recognize at the beginning,then he thought up a faster, crisper melody. Next, Mozart let us hear the slow, smoothmelody again and then surprised us with another fast, crisp melody. Mozart ends themovement with the melody we know the best. It's like leaving a well-worn trail in thewoods to see a special flower, but always being able to find your way back. 

FRIDAY: The week's feature composition is "Eine kleine Nachtmusik." Do you remember thename of the composer? (Short pause.) If you are thinking of Mozart, good for you. Doyou recognize where Mozart got the musical idea to end this movement of "Eine KlieneNachtmusik?" Mozart enjoyed a musical journey that included new ideas, but alwayscame home.
