Daily scripts to use with students:
MONDAY: This week's feature composer is Claude Debussy (DEB-you-see). The feature composition is Arabesque No. 2 (Air-a-BESK). In his Arabesque No. 2, Debussy created short groups of quick sounds. He made the sounds feel lighter or heavier by moving them higher or lower on the piano. Debussy liked to make us see colour and feel energy by playing with sound.
TUESDAY: This week's feature composer is Claude Debussy. The feature composition is Arabeque No. 2. In his Arabesque No. 2, Debussy created ideas that let us hear that the piano can sound light or heavy, bright or dark. By using short groups of quick sounds, he made us see the different colours and feel the changes in energy that are possible on the piano.
WEDNESDAY: This week's feature composer is Claude Debussy. The feature composition is Arabeque No. 2. In his Arabeque No. 2, it is as if Debussy were a painter experimenting with blending colours. By using just a short group of sounds, and moving them higher and lower o the piano, he gave us the feeling of starting with a light colour and changing to a darker colour just to see how it will look.
THURSDAY: This week's feature composer is Claude Debussy. The feature composition is Arabeque No. 2. Debussy liked to experiment with colour and energy. In the Arabesque No. 2, he moved the short groups of sounds quickly from higher to lower on the piano. He wanted us to feel the many different ways a piano can sound-light, heavy; bright, dark; playful, soothing.
FRIDAY: This week's feature composition is Arabesque No. 2. Do you remember the name of the composer? (Short pause). Did you think of Claude Debussy? Good for you. Debussy liked to invent musical ideas that created different feelings of energy and imitated the changes in darker and lighter colours.
