January Week 3 - Shubert

Day 1: This week's feature composer is Franz Schubert (SHU-bairt). The feature composition is the third movement from the Piano Quintet in A Major. Schubert composed the Piano Quintet for a group of five instruments: one violin, one viola, one cello, one double bass, and one piano. The musical term for five is quintet. That is why Schubert called his composition "Quintet." 

Day 2: This week's feature composer is Franz Schubert. The feature composition is the third movement from the Piano Quintet in A Major. Shubert composed the Piano Quintet for himself and his musical friends. They liked to get together in the evening to play music. The third movement of the quintet is called "Scherzo" (SCARE-tso). Schubert composed "Scherzo" because he wanted a short, lively movement in his quintet.
