Lesson Plan - Music Integration Module
Day 1: This week's feature composer is Antonio Vivaldi. The feature composition is "Winter" from The Four Seasons. The first official day of winter, the winter solstice, occurs on December 21st (or 22nd.) People have celebrated the beginning of winter for centuries. Vivaldi, a musician who lived 250 years ago, was very sensitive to the changing seasons. He described winter in two ways. In words he said, "Shivering in the chill of the cold snow, and, in the harsh breath of the terrible wind, hurrying and stamping the feet, with teeth chattering from the fierce frost." In music, he wrote the composition "Winter."
Day 2: This week's feature composer is Antonio Vivaldi. The feature composition is "Winter" from The Four Seasons. Vivaldi composed musical ideas about winter for string orchestra. Vivaldi chose one instrument of the string orchestra, the violin, to sometimes play by itself.
